Abby Motycka is a licensed clinical social worker in New York State, known for her comprehensive understanding of the relationship between social work, mental health, and the law. Her commitment to her profession and to her clients make her a valued member of our team at Fifth Avenue Forensics.

Impressive Academic Credentials

After earning a double major in Africana Studies and History and a minor in Government/Legal Studies from Bowdoin College, Ms. Motycka earned her master’s degree from the reputable Graduate School of Social Service at Fordham University. Her clinical focus during these studies equipped her with the necessary knowledge and skills to serve diverse populations effectively.

Hands-On Experience in Clinical Field Placements

Ms. Motycka completed two clinical field placements at Henry Street Settlement and Bellevue Hospital Center in New York City, which gave her in-depth exposure to the practical aspects of social work. At Henry Street Settlement, she oversaw two after-school programs, providing individual and group therapy to elementary and middle school aged children. At Bellevue Hospital Center, she worked collaboratively with a team of psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, and behavioral assistants to serve an inpatient psychiatric unit.

Combining Legal and Social Work Experience

Prior to entering the field of social work, Ms. Motycka spent two years as a paralegal at a law firm specializing in intellectual property. This background in the legal field gives her a unique perspective on the interplay between mental health and the law, a skill that benefits her practice and our clients at Fifth Avenue Forensics.
